His passion for the vessel and attention to detail led him to request a high-quality display model that would faithfully reflect the yacht’s character and design.
To ensure the highest possible accuracy, our team travelled to Crinan Boatyard in Scotland, where Martha Gunn was undergoing maintenance. There, we conducted a detailed on-site survey, meticulously measuring every aspect of the vessel — from hull shape and deck layout to the finest fittings. This in-depth documentation allowed us to produce a precise 3D CAD model, scaled to exact proportions and incorporating even the smallest features.
The hull was produced using FDM 3D printing for structural strength, while SLA 3D printing was employed for finer components requiring crisp detail. Key fittings and railings were machined from stainless steel, offering both durability and realism. Laser engraving was used to craft the deck, and pear wood was chosen for all timber elements, reflecting the refined elegance of the original yacht.
Each part was individually post-processed, hand-finished, and assembled to exacting standards. The final model was spray-painted and polished to a flawless finish, mounted on a custom-designed plinth, and encased in a bespoke acrylic cover for long-term protection and striking presentation.
This project highlights the precision, craftsmanship, and dedication required to capture the spirit of a beloved yacht — transforming real-world engineering into a luxury scale replica of exceptional quality.
Upon completion, the model was personally delivered to Scotland and presented to its owner, Drew Cameron. His response was one of genuine delight — a testament to the model’s exceptional detail, craftsmanship, and faithful representation of Martha Gunn.
Every line, material, and finish reflected the real vessel’s character with remarkable precision. For both client and maker, the project stood as a celebration of fine craftsmanship and the lasting connection between yacht and owner — now preserved in elegant miniature.
