Geoff Moore, Managing Director of West Nautical — a leading international yacht brokerage and management firm — played a central role in the delivery of MY Alma, the first Sanlorenzo 57Steel superyacht. This bespoke project, managed by West Nautical, features a fully customised interior by Vickers Studio, including a private gym, spa, massage room, cinema, and formal dining area.
To support the yacht’s global visibility and brand presence, Geoff Moore commissioned multiple scale models of Alma in various sizes, each meticulously crafted for display across private owner collections, corporate offices, and prestigious international yacht exhibitions.
Our commission was to create a series of bespoke scale models of Alma — the acclaimed Sanlorenzo 57Steel superyacht. Crafted in three sizes (1000 mm, 750 mm, and 500 mm), each model maintained the same exceptional standard of detail, precision, and finishing, with scale being the only deliberate distinction between them.
The largest model, measuring one metre in length, presented a number of advanced challenges. Key architectural features such as the open beach club, integrated garage, lowered swim platforms, and the transparent aft-deck pool required exacting interpretation at scale. One of the most intricate elements was the recreation of Alma’s complex lighting design — comprising hundreds of scaled lights, each positioned and proportioned to reflect the yacht’s ambient and architectural illumination.
This multi-scale commission highlights Polaris Models’ ability to deliver museum-quality superyacht models with uncompromising accuracy — tailored for elite collectors, premium corporate environments, and the world’s most prestigious yacht exhibitions.
This project began with access to exceptional reference materials, which enabled us to develop accurate and fully detailed 3D CAD models of Alma, the Sanlorenzo 57Steel superyacht. Since the commission required multiple custom models in three distinct sizes — 1000 mm, 750 mm, and 500 mm — each version demanded its own dedicated digital design. Tolerances had to be recalculated to suit the specific materials, processes, and assembly techniques appropriate to each scale. This approach ensured flawless joins, structural integrity, and pristine surface finishes across all models.
Among the most technically demanding aspects were the open beach areas, the integrated garage spaces, and the replication of Alma’s complex lighting system. Hundreds of micro-lights, some measuring just 1 mm by 0.5 mm, were strategically embedded during early assembly. These features could not be retrofitted — each light had to be precisely aligned and secured before post-processing, as any damage at later stages could require full part replacement. Engineering this level of detail required extensive planning, test fitting, and precision handling at every step.
To manage production at scale, all three versions were developed simultaneously. This required high levels of coordination between CAD development, 3D printing, materials processing, and final finishing. The majority of structural components were produced using ultra-high-resolution 3D printing, while select features — such as the transparent pool — were cast in clear resin using custom moulds, complete with subtle water effects. Decking was laser-engraved into real wood veneer to reflect the tactile quality of natural timber, and fine metal elements like railings and fittings were fabricated in stainless steel and brass for durability and realism.
Each model was meticulously painted and finished by hand to match Alma’s distinctive colour palette. The superstructure, hull, and every polished surface were refined through multiple stages of sanding, lacquering, and inspection. Once completed, the models were mounted on custom display bases and enclosed in tailor-made acrylic cases — ensuring safe transport, long-term protection, and a commanding presence whether in a private collection, corporate space, or yacht exhibition.
This project represents the very highest level of precision model making — an intersection of cutting-edge technology, artisanal technique, and deep understanding of contemporary superyacht design.
The completed series of Sanlorenzo 57Steel Alma models was met with enthusiasm and admiration from both our client and our team. The first to be presented — the 1000 mm version — was personally delivered to Geoff Moore, Managing Director of West Nautical. His immediate response reflected genuine appreciation for the model’s precision, craftsmanship, and particularly the flawless execution of the paintwork and fine detailing.
These moments — when a client recognises their yacht brought to life in scale — are at the heart of what we do. The positive reception confirmed the value of every hour spent across design, production, and finishing.
Each model, regardless of size, succeeded in capturing the spirit and sophistication of Alma. Now displayed across corporate offices, private owner collections, and prestigious international yacht shows, the models serve not only as visual centrepieces but as lasting representations of Polaris Models’ commitment to excellence.
This project deepened our long-standing relationship with one of the industry’s leading yacht management firms and stands as a benchmark for luxury superyacht model making at the highest level.
